Join Cobb PARKS in celebrating National Parks and Recreation Month, designated by the U.S. House of Representatives. Come out to the parks this month and take advantage of all Cobb has to offer! Whether it's a tennis or pickleball match, pottery class, hiking on the trail, cooling off in the pool, or going to a concert or theater performance, you will find something to enjoy in Cobb PARKS. Parks and recreation are an integral part of communities throughout the country promoting health and wellness, spending time in nature, encouraging physical activities by providing space for sports and activities, and providing educational opportunities. Parks and recreation increase a community's economic prosperity through increased property values, expansion of the local tax base, increased tourism, attraction and retention of businesses, and crime reduction. This year's theme, Where You Belong, celebrates the many ways park and recreation professionals across the country foster a sense of belonging in their community by providing welcoming and inclusive programs, essential services for all ages and abilities, and safe, accessible spaces to build meaningful connections. Cobb PARKS manages 90 properties, of which 78 are developed parks, encompassing over 6,000 acres. As the primary provider of leisure services and facilities within the county, we offer a wide range of athletic, artistic, therapeutic and educational services. Specialized facilities include the Cobb County Civic Center Complex, Al Bishop and Lost Mountain Softball Complexes. There are also five recreation centers, five community centers, four art centers, the Mable House-Barnes Amphitheatre, the Cobb Gymnastics Center, six tennis centers, four indoor aquatic centers, two outdoor seasonal pools, three BMX tracks, more than 60 miles of trails, two golf courses, the fairgrounds arena and the event center at Jim Miller Park. Visitors also come to Cobb PARKS green spaces to learn about nature, have a picnic, go on a hike, have family time on a playground or ride a bike.
