The new Gritters Library is a gem right in our backyard! Opened in November 2024, this stunning facility is much more than a library—it’s a true community hub offering programs for all ages. Whether you’re a parent looking for engaging activities for your little ones, a teen artist, or an adult eager to learn new skills, there’s something for everyone at Gritters Library.
Programs for Kids
The library offers a variety of programs designed to spark joy and creativity in little learners:
- Baby Storytime (6 weeks to 18 months): Tuesdays at 10 a.m., featuring songs, rhymes, and fingerplays.
- Toddler Storytime (18 to 36 months): Thursdays at 11 a.m., with engaging stories and songs.
- Storytime Basics Playground Palooza (ages 2-5): Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. starting January 15. This five-week series promotes early literacy through fun, interactive workshops.
- Bad Art Club for Tweens & Teens (ages 9-17): January 22 at 5 p.m., where young artists can create freely.
Programs for Adults
From fitness to driver safety, adults can enjoy a range of activities tailored to their interests:
- Stretch and Stroll: Thursdays at 2 p.m., featuring light exercise and relaxation.
- AARP Smart Driver Course: January 13, 10:30 a.m.–5 p.m., to sharpen your driving skills.
- Beginner Yoga with Airi Yoga: January 13 at 6 p.m., a perfect way to relax and recharge.
- English Conversation Group: Starts January 14 at 5 p.m., offering a welcoming space for ELL learners to practice English.
- Computer Basics: Gmail: January 15 at 2 p.m., ideal for novice users.
- Gritters Book Discussion Group: January 30 at 11 a.m., featuring The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride.
A Community Hub
Located at 880 Shaw Park Road, the new Gritters Library also houses space for CobbWorks, Cobb PARKS, and the Northeast Cobb Community Center, making it a true gathering place for residents of all ages.
Library Director Keith Schuermann encourages everyone to visit and experience this modern facility, saying, “The reality of Gritters Library is already starting to fulfill in a meaningful way the vision of serving as a true community focal point.”

The library’s winter hours are:
- Monday-Wednesday: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
- Thursday-Friday: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
