The Aviation Sports Complex is a top-notch facility that was renovated in 2010 with proceeds from the 2009 Parks Bond Fund. The facility has three ballfields that can accommodate various age groups and has an indoor batting cage/training facility. With multiple outdoor batting cages, it is perfect for game-day warm-ups, team practices and clinics and instruction.
The Aviation Sports Complex site once housed hundreds of apartments built to house workers at the former Bell Bomber plant during the WWII era. The apartments were eventually razed, and the city planned construction of the athletic fields.
Marietta City Schools funded much of the development for the complex and used it for their home site for boy’s baseball and girls’ softball until the new high school and associated athletic facilities were built on the west side of Marietta. Additional funding came from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund program.
Today, the facility is operated under an agreement between the City of Marietta, the Marietta Development Authority, and 643DP Athletics, LLC. The facility is maintained to the highest standards by 643DP Athletics and plays host to instructional clinics, camps, tournaments, private lessons, college showcases, and charity events. City of Marietta receive a 20% discount for all instructional programs.
