This camp provides runners a chance to learn proper form and technique to avoid injuries while learning the basics of how to be a successful runner. Young runners are vulnerable to developing poor running habits, such as arms crossing the torso, heels striking, over use of the arms and negative or lack of mental strength while running. These and other problems, which Swift Foot running camp directly focuses on can be corrected through various techniques. Techniques we will focus on at Swift Foot running camp include Explanation - Coaches explain why it will help runners and what each individual change does to improve running and times. Drills - These drills are used to develop “run specific” muscles to overcome potential weakness in muscles and improper form. Education - Teaching runners how to achieve the techniques needed to become a successful runner. Repetition - Emphasizing the needed form and mindset throughout each day of the camp will serve to remind each runner whenever they appear to be going back to bad habits. This also helps change a negative attitude about one’s running. A typical day at camp will include: stretches and warm ups, running games and water play, yoga, running exercises, more games and so much more.
